    Default Nuclear reality.

What is the actual area of damage one nuke can cause? Unlike covid, I'm not very good at nuclear facts. For eg, if Northern Ireland was nuked, what would be the gross area of spread? This of course is just a theoretical example. No need to go drumming and marching lads.

For eg, if a nuke was dropped on San Miguel de Abona, Spain. What would happen???

Well if you have a look hystorically at Chernobyl, for example, a disaster of that magnitude affected all of Europe, Ireland including.

I wouldn’t be a scientist but if NI was nuked we would kinda be fucked. Ireland as a whole(NI included) is a small portion of land. Like it takes you 4-5 hours to get from Belfast to Cork so consequences would be quite devastating.

It is not a simple answer. Fallout may or may not be an issue in any specific blast, and power plant meltdowns and nuclear materials are very different from weapons.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki have been repopulated and rebuilt relatively quickly and there is little lasting impact from the nuclear element of the blasts.

Similarly, the blast area of the tsar bomba in northern Russia is habitable today.

The main impact is the initial devastation, and initial radiation burst which kills people either initially or within days. After that the resulting cancers.

But in terms of long term habitability of an area, in general it seems to be recoverable.
