    Default Space travel

So it costs 50 odd million for a person to visit space? I thought I was a selfish prick spending so much here...I suddenly feel much better about myself. Kids starving and there's billionaires spending that? It's their choice, but it's sick! Phoney World we live in.

Considering it is only 62 miles (100 kilometers), it is expensive.

It cost Vasco De Gama and Christopher Columbus vast sums to discover the New World. If space tourists were funding the exploration of a new New World that 50 odd million will seem quite the trivial amount. The starving kids would be better of if they were taught how to fish rather than handing out free fish

You are quite trivial. They are selfish people. They are not doing anything, but feeding their ego. I have no interest in talking to you.

Do you drive a car? Why? That's selfish. Why not take the bus and donate the money you would spend on a car to feed the starving children?

As for visiting escorts? Every time you do you could feed a village for a week.

Take the plank out of your own eye before pointing at the splinter in someone else's.

If you think solving child hunger was as simple as throwing money at it then it would have been solved a long time ago. Thinking that private citizens could or should intervene is laden with lots of issues.

Tough to have it both ways. Gates donates tens of billions to humanitarian causes but gets slammed for it.

Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't.

And BTW, private investment in space exploration has massively reduced costs and will continue to do so. Compare the price per launch between NASA and space x.

Ah Gonzo come on. Yes I drive a car...a rather old car actually. Yes I visit escorts, but I like giving them money... plenty of them have a kid or two. 55 MILLION PER PERSON! I just thought it seemed wrong. My last escort visit cost €800...it doesn't seem a big deal to me now. Yes I know about big business, yes I know the money in professional sport etc. It just seems madness to me. I think breakfast was included in the €55 million ticket atleast.

If someone spends 55 million to go to space, that 55 million stays on the ground. Much of it goes to workers that might otherwise be out of work and starving.
Would it be better if bezos and other space tourists kept their money under the mattress?

Jesus the outpouring of support for someone who spends 55 million on a jaunt to space is incredible. I'm surprised, but maybe I shouldn't be. Oh the 55 million does so much for so many others ...does it fuck. Wake up! Ah sure Jeff Bezos only cares about the poor . People in Ireland on the breadline ( not me ).

Great idea. I'll give all my money to feed Africa.
