Again Ber I see your point completely, and there in lies a mods dilemma, it is difficult to be both, if we try only to see it from a posters point of view and miss something, we're not doing the job, if we only see it as a mod there's the danger of overdoing it. It's sometimes a fine line, open to interpretation and often blurry, people see things different ways and from different angles, not necessarily from a cut and dry, right or wrong kind of way.
I will totally take on board what people think, and perhaps try to see things more from a poster and members point of view if people could also see it from our point of view. It's easy to be the hurler in the ditch, but a player/manager aint no walk in the park either..........
No mod comes here (and very few posters) with any intention of doing anything but their very best, in their own way, for this site, for it's users, members, advertisers and guests......
I can't speak for everyone, but that again is my opinion and hope......... If I didn't believe that, I wouldn't be here..........
And yes, it is difficult to be parent and friend, but that's the way people view the mods and I don't think that's fair, if I could change this perception I would in a heartbeat, it's easy for me to say, I know, but there's a big divide between mods and members and I'd like to see it closed. If I need to change my view of members here I certainly will, as long as they could look at the possibility of changing their view of us..........
This is a problem I've seen before. A friend bought a pub in his local area a few years back, a fairly young guy, mid to late 20's kind of age. As it turned out it was a great success, but if you asked him today what was the one thing he didn't think about before he opened the doors the first night this was it...... He never thought about the fact that at closing time it was his friends he had to throw out, people he went to school with and socialised with for years, didn't think about having to say no more drink for them if they were off their faces drunk, didn't think about having to throw them out by the scruff of their necks of they started trouble and bar them if it was serious enough...........But he worked hard at it, he didn't want to create a divide between them, he still wanted to be able to have a pint with them, he needed them to see it from his point of view, and when they did, and their was more understanding of each others point of view there was much better craic from and for everybody..........
