People must remember way back in the stone age people were dead before 30. As soon as people were able to procreate they did. Also not so long ago in Ireland and other countries people were getting married at 13, 14 and such.

That's true. The main reason for the age restriction is so that girls under 18 won't be exploited and manipulated. An important point could be that just because 13 is the age of consent, it doesn't mean that a 30 year old can have sex with her... there are clauses like it can only be with a person 3 or less years older than him/her.

But remember also that before the Stone Age man lived longer. It's not like we're born to live and die before 30!!! No, the Stone Age brought with it all sorts of diseases and wars and so on. It wasn't a very nice time. In the Middle East the life expectency could be up to 84 in the elite class hundreds of years ago!!!

In prehistoric times, we don't really know how long humans lived. Medicine tries to come along and give the impression that it's because of THEM that we live longer and years ago it was very low... however that's not true... and if we didn't live that long it's due to predation and things like that. I think we lived to 100+ more regularly back then and perfect function right up until we died. We were eating raw foods all the time, living as we were evolved to eat, exercising right (which is a lot) etc.

And while marriage at 14-15 might have been common enough, it still wasn't the usual thing in the past few 100s of years. Like Napoleon wanted to marry Tzar Alexander's sister, but his aunt (or was it his other sister), said no because she was too young at only 14. It might be like getting married at 18-21 nowadays.

But I definitely agree with you that 13 year olds, or even people of any age could have sexual contact without it messing them up forever, oh heavens what am I digging myself into here.... well the thing is that it's just that older males might and would abuse and exploit them. That's why during evolution.... the kids and infants would stay with the family anyway. Older males actually MURDER infants in other primate species if they get the opportunity. This is why the whole priest scandal thing wasn't all that surprising... they were very sexually frustrated people given full access to children.
