As an accountant who has done tax returns for a couple of ladies, i can assure you they do pay tax. It's important for some of them too. They might need to prove earnings to a bank for a mortgage, by way of revenue assessment, also paying prsi goes towards their pension, but also jobseekers and maternity benefit and most recently qualifying for the pup payment.

You are not required to declare the 3k to revenue, your only required to declare anything over 3k.

That's not correct. Read the CAB Annual Report where that is explained. Taxes can only be levied on legal activities. Some of the lads on here who work in Revenue will clarify that! But they may not want to identify who they work for!!

Actually you are supposed to declare and pay tax on illegal earnings. Not surprisingly very few do. That is what CAB is all about. Getting people to pay income tax on illegal earnings. It’s how the USA got Capone.
