    Default Where were you when?

Pick a historically significant date eg 9/11 and say what you were doing when the news broke.
9/11 I was at work, we had a TV on, spent most of the day transfixed with a sense that the world would never be the same again.

In bed dying with a hangover when my mother starts screaming blah blah is dead. I was upstairs and couldnt really hear her so I was like wtf is she on about I just want to curl up and pass out but she kept banging on about it. Ok I better get up and find out who's dead, It might be a close relative or friend.

Turns out it was Princess Diana...... I went back to bed!!

Arriving home after my first day at school, aged 11. As a child, I was scared, I was stuck in front of the TV all day.

Getting petrol at a garage in Dublin when there was a newsflash about the Omagh Bomb. Irish Republican Terrorist Bastards thought killing innocent people out Shopping was ok. May they all rot in hell.

I don't like this thread because everyone picks death and violence.

Ray Houghton's winner for the Republic against Italy in the '94 World Cup. My auld lad backed Italy to win it out, but they lost on penalties to Brazil in the final with Roberto Baggio's infamous penalty over the bar. He hasn't shut the fuck up about it ever since and even blamed the Mafia haha! I would have been watching with him. Ireland were the only team to beat Italy in normal play that year.

Maybe not that historically significant, but I wasn't alive for WWI, WWII or JFK'S assassination.

25 June 1990 the day Ireland beat Romania in the World Cup I was in Cork city
    I was 16 years old
I’ve never seen so many grown ups, myself included, crying tears of joy
What a day I’ll never forget it
