If it is true that he chose not to get a free vaccine, contracted the disease and then died as a result having likely spread it to others and placed a burden on stretched resources and placed healthcare workers at risk, then I think it is neither crass nor insensitive to call it out as what it is.
However, my understanding is that it is not confirmed, so I would not speculate either way.
However, the general point is perfectly valid. Nobody is forcing you to get vaccinated, but if you choose not to, who's to blame then?
To say they died of foolishness is insensitive and crass at best. The man has a grieving family for heaven's sake and people saying he died out of being a fool! Very cold.
Maybe he had an apprehension due to the accelerated approval process for the vaccine, he might have been just nervous of it , but to say he died if foolishness is very cruel. If you were a Dr I'd say your bedside manner would be poor!

Somebody can't be a fool by "fact"..God help you. You might think he is a fool, but his partner, children, friends and parents probably dont. In fact, it seems foolish to diagnose him a fool on one decision in 73 years of life. I dare say he will leave greater legacy than you Gonzo
There's a certain irony to those who get all emotive in their responses yet espouse the virtues of science!

Word salad. I said nothing about the man or his legacy or his family. You said all that and I'm not responding to any of it.
My statements stand. IF, and it is an IF, he refused the vaccine and proceeded to die of covid, then he like anyone else choosing the same fate, cannot be accused of making a good choice now can they?
I've nothing further to say on this.
I've listened to Meat Loaf everyday since hearing the news of his passing and yet I've found it difficult to write R.I.P. (ok, guess I just done it).
Instead, Meat Loaf I say Rock On. Let it RIP.
I hope you find paradise is as you remember it.

Bat Out Of Hell has gone to number 1 in the official Irish charts which it didn`t manage to do on its original release back in 1977/78. Well deserved and a fitting tribute to Meat Loaf`s legacy.
