Nothing has changed, they hate Russia and always have, but we don't have to

Stop licking their boots its pathetic
    Yes,the bolsheviks were russian!
thats why the war between red and white russia was called a civil war

go tell putin that the soviet union is gone for good,he doesn't seem to have got the memo

    stop licking their boots?!?!
oh right, silly me! it must be the ukraine that massed 120,000 troops

Here is the same news from your non conspiracy theory website

    https://www.reuters.com/world/europe...ts-2022-01-22/
so one german is pro putin, does that mean all of germany agrees with him?
    no
the government of germany has condemned russias actions

so they are choosing diplomacy and threatening with sanctions instead of arms.
they're still standing against russias aggressive actions while trying to not escalate

if ukraine choose to join nato then as a free country they should be free to do so
and anyone who can't see putin for what he is,is a fool and an apologist

If you choose to see it that way, your view, or lack of it.
I see it as a army commander calling for de escalation and immediately gets cancelled, so to speak.
NATO and Russia had agreement about NATO not expanding to the east, which NATO broke with Eastern European countries joining.
Russia has 120 000 soldiers on its own border, how many US has deployed around the world?

Germans have learned from recent wars that in the end except bodybags they got nothing out of them, only profit was for arms deals and millions of refugees for Europe to deal with.
Do you know that at this point German industry is heavily reliant on Russian gas to keep it running? Any idea what would happen if those sanctions were implemented?

there is no such treaty signed and regardless of that, russia shouldn't get to decide which free country
decides to join NATO or not.

and there is a hell of a lot of difference between massing 120,000 troops on the border of a country, part
of which you just annexed, and having military bases of which 95% are in friendly nations.
    2 wrongs wouldn't make a right anyway

so what? europe should just throw ukraine to the wolves just cos putin wants it or it might
    be too hard?
and if he gets it,how long before he starts interfering with and sniffing around the baltic states?

    There has Got to be a DMZ between two antagonists : ie. North K / South Korea ;

    NATO / Russia .

It is Ukraine’s tremendous misfortune that They happen to be the ‘dividing land’

between the Russian Bear and the ‘civilized’ West — even though most of its people

would Want to be part of EU , and would Very much welcome the security / protection of NATO .

: That’s what the whole hullabaloo was some ten ( ? ) years ago : Moscow had sat its puppet

as Leader of Ukraine ; then there was election : Popular Vote ousted the dummy and elected an

EU leaning head of state who was Eager to join EU and NATO .

Putin couldn’t stand by , couldn’t let it happen >> ‘civil war’ , Crimea , Donetsk, etc.

It’s a hard nut to shell : up to 30% of people who live in Ukraine identify as Russians ..

The govt hadn’t been kind to that demographic : why should that Third of the country

want to stay within the confines of Ukraine , when their MotherLand Russia is calling ?

It’s shaping up to be an absolute mess :

West Europe’s been got by the shorties on Energy ( natural gas ) , Putin .. well , I don’t think

he gives much of a flying F = so long he has Enemies outside the country he can set it ::

:: Us against Them , and sacrifice for Mother Russia !

Younger generation - though more worldly and better educated , still very Patriotic by and large .

So long Putin can find an Enemy to fight - he will do alright in the home polls : ala Fidel .

I dread this happening on doorsteps of Europe .
I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.

    Russian Natural Gas :

    - West needs it for fuel / heat , to not freeze 🥶 in the winter .

    - Russia needs to be able to sell it : I’m not sure what % of their GDP ic counted for by their NatGas sale ..

    It’s like a god damn’d Mexican Stand-off !!

I would be very wary of giving Russia any concessions over Ukraine's self governing i.e. joining NATO
I think it would set a dangerous precedent

the thing about Putins russian bear is,i don't think its hunger would ever be fully satiated

russia supplies about one third of europes gas
it might hurt russia just as much economically to not sell it
