Ukraine have no hope of winning this war period. The US will drag this war out for as long as possible. the US has cut lines or communication with Russia something it has never done before. Not even during the cold war. They don't want to talk peace and end the war. For the US this war is good business. Russia is getting bloodied badly and has a lot of its military and navy tied up. Their allies in the Middle East are getting richer. Their weapons sales have gone into overdrive. They are selling more gas to Europe. It's getting first hand battle information on how its some of its new technology is performing. NATO has gotten the new members.

i don't think anyone ever really thought they could beat Russia.
after their great resistance around Kyiv, some hoped they could ground out a stalemate at most
but that is slowly being eroded by massive numerical advantages and brutal shelling.

but the fact is that if this does end up at the negotiation table,Ukraine need to be going in having dented Russias military as much
as they can and in as strong a position as is reasonbly possible.
its the only thing Putin will seriously consider

Hard to see Putin conceding anything as it currently stands.
The sanction regime seems to have played right into his 'plans', if you could call them that.
Talk from the US and EU regarding energy independence is framed in a '5 year plan' and that's an ugly prospect.

Going to sleep later tonight wondering if maybe we shouldn't have stolen Tetris.

on another note,i keep hearing people say that America is unnecessarily drawing out this war
by supplying weapons, but what is the alternative?

Ukraine wants to fight for its independence and freedom and who are
we to tell them they shouldn't?
the only reason they wanted to join Nato was because they were losing large parts
of their country little by little and their interior conflicts and elections were getting interfered
    with by the Kremlin.

if you try to talk peace and non-interference with Putin,he'll lie through his teeth and do what
    he wants anyway

if the west didn't help then there would probably already be a puppet government
installed in kyiv and their country would forever be controlled by that communist c**t.
