Well despite my efforts to return the thread to what it was about, it seems to have gone that way anyway.

Amazingly enough, the rush to judgement and the insults when the contents of a private message are not known to anyone, will, I guess that part at least is on topic for the thread.

Again off topic, but I received a few messages in support of my views while some others where sending me abusive messages.
While I don't personally mind, I did hear from 2 people who said they have left the forums and will not return because of what they termed the "belittling abuse".
That's a shame.
It's one thing to make a point that differs from yours or mine, but to send abusive messages or make someone feel unwelcome is not right.
I tried to encourage them to stay and if nothing else not let the bullies win.

Tony, we disagree on the vast majority of topics but to your credit you seem able to discern between personal abuse and discussion of opinions.

While I do disagree with you on several things, I never would suggest you shouldn't be free to hold your own opinions or to express them.

And if at any point you have taken anything I have posted in your direction as a personal insult, I do apologize for that, I will try harder in future not to get carried away.

Anybody else concerned that the Sunday Independent is using this young lady’s murder as the main tag line in their radio ads today to sell tomorrows edition. Extremely bad taste in my opinion and shows how embedded in society a very strange culture has become acceptable
