Thread: The best country in the world

  1. Default The best country in the world

    What are your thoughts?

Are you glad you live here or do you think there is a better country.

Thankfully unlike many European countries, we are still open for business.

Economy is in relatively good shape.

Do you think 2022 will be great

Like every other country Ireland is a great place to live if you have money, otherwise not so much.

In saying that I'll live out the rest of my life here , there's a lot to be said for living near family and friends.

At the end of the day there's no place like home.

As for 2022 it's going to be an interesting year, we need to get through this winter first . That will determine a lot.

the punting in truth is a rich mans game-
A dangerous weakness of mine- "an attraction for fast women and slow horses"

A bit of optimism goes a long way.
If gov stats are to be believed or property prices, rental market is to be believed then the economy is going strong.
I think there are two versions, dublin vs rest of the country, multi national vs local sme.

Depends on what indicators you use, lots of SP - is that a sign of strong economy?

Difficult to get a taxi, recruiting problems for restaurants etc.

There are a lot of challenges ahead, brexit, covid, global tax harmonisation, high property prices pricing out the first time buyer, global warming/making ireland green…. Take your pick any of them could cause the economy to trip.

What would make you stay or leave?

    Love Ireland.

The only thing I hate is the climate, its shuddering cold 99% of the year! I prefer countries like Spain, I enjoy heat

I love this country but we are in a mess right now. Hospitals overrun, shocking property and rent prices, we are threatened with power outages as we may not have enough electricity and then you have climate change.
    Nearly forgot about covid
