What makes a good moderator?

I'm afraid to open this thread because I know you... but well, I think that sometimes criticising is easier than giving new ideas.
So the question is simple, for you, what should the perfect moderator be like?
I think to answer this question, we must first be clear that we have rules that are not going to change, but other than that... what do you expect from us?

I'm with Steve.
It would be good to have someone with an interest, that understands this hobby. M
Hard for someone without experience to not be judgemental.

A moderator should be like a referee or a panel moderator in a debate.
Allow people to exchange ideas always within the set of rules and regulations.

Also, stop any disrespectful, o hurtful behaviour, or having a go at people for their comments. It is much better to warn people straight away rather than allow the discussion to derail and then closing the threads.

MMost f the users are non native speakers and sometimes we get lost in translation.
A good moderator will try to look for clarification of posts arather hthan take part in the discussion and take sides.As I said before, a moderator should defuse any controversial situations rather than eexacerbate it.

Also being a punter or escorts,and knowing how this industry works is very helpful to then being able to moderate in the forum.

I understand what you mean. I knew when I posted the reply it was not a specific answer to the question.
But, being a moderator is often more an art than a science and it is hard to formulate a list of necessary skills. You need to look for a the right person, not appoint a person and then try to give them the necessary skills.

If you are looking to boost the number of women engaging on the forum it isn't a bad idea to get some feedback directly from them on what they want from yourself and other moderators.

But, with interest comes knowledge and without a deep knowledge and understanding of the activity it is hard to be a good moderator. It can be done by someone who has no deep knowledge but it is going to be more difficult for them to be effective.
