2021 Lions Tour of South Africa

The Lions beat Japan 28-10 in their warm up match for the Tour at Murrayfield this afternoon. They scored 4 converted tries from Adams, van der Merwe, Henshaw and Beirne. However captain Alun Wyn Jones had to go off early with what looked like a fairly serious shoulder injury and could be an injury doubt for the Tour itself. Justin Tipuric also went off injured in the first half.

Wyn Jones has now been ruled out of the tour with a dislocated shoulder. Heartbreaking for hin personally and a huge loss for the Lions before they face the Springboks. They will need to choose a new captain as well as needing a replacement in the squad.

Thought James ryan would be called up & I would of picked sam underhill instead of navidi

A great honour for Murray though not in the circumstances he would have wanted. More bad news for Welsh sportspersons today with Justin Tipuric also being ruled out of the Lions tour.

Long time Wales coach Warren Gatland replaces 2 injured Welsh players with 2 more Welsh players. Not that surprising really.

3 positive cases in the south African camp.

They were due to play Georgia this week, can't see it happening.

Some talk today about the Lions` matches against the regional South African teams on the tour being cancelled and only the 3 test matches against the Springboks still going ahead. Who knows what might happen with the way things are.
