"In typical cases the recipient is called and advised via a recorded message that the Garda is investigating them in relation to suspicious activity linked to their PPS number. In order to rectify the situation the recipient is then advised to press a number to speak to someone further in relation to the matter. These scam calls are mainly coming from numbers with the 087 prefix.
Gardai advise people not to engage with the caller, not to return the call, not to follow the instructions or press any digits, never to disclose any personal or financial information, and to hang up and block the number if possible.
Gardaí said while approaches may vary, the goal of the scammers is always the same: “they want to access your sensitive information and get their hands on your money.”

I got 3 calls yesterday, didn't answer, Irish number
Yeah, I have gotten a bunch of those this week, normally don't and I never pick up anymore unless I know the number or expect a call. If someone need to talk with me, they would leave a message on the machine, and once the scam bot did it, saying something about "need to call before finances will be cut off" or something crap like that, with no name or department and with a typical robocall voice.
Don't pick up and DO NOT call back, because those number usually are premium numbers so you pay €10+ for the call.
I got the same call 2 days ago. FROM A 083 NUMBER. When you answer the phone an answering machine tells your pps number has been compromise, it ask you to go to a web site or else to click on a link. The idea is that you click there and re input your details. When they have that they can pretend that they are you and get into your bank accounts, social welfare or whatever. That is call wide cast net Pishing. Out of 1 million people who gets the call, certain percentage will click there and get caught in the scam.
Just delete any links and never input any personal info anywhere.
REMEMBER they always have a sense or URGENCY.
They ask you to contact them or click on a link.

"THE CLEANER THE CLIENT, THE DIRTIER THE SERVICE..."
You are one example with whom I would have a sex even in normal life. I mean perfect hygiene and high standards in all ways. Maybe I should mention you are not Irish.

I heard that if you send them a pic of both sides of your bank card they'll stop bothering you.
Lots of scams of different nature have been for ages around. Once in Belfast got a text on my working phone saying something about new payee who was added to my HSBC bank account. And of course I dont have a bank account with HSBC so I texted back the f... middle finger sign and got response a smile
