Wimbledon champion Ashleigh Barty was beaten in straight sets in her 1st round singles match in Tokyo today. Olympic champion Andy Murray has pulled out of the mens`singles competition through injury but will still play in the doubles.

Fantastic win for Kurt Walker in boxing, after beating the world number 1, just one win away from a medal, would be brilliant if the Lisburn man could beat the American

The pride of Skibbereen. Hopefully they will win a medal tomorrow. Congrats to the Irish ladies four for their great performance today, the 1st ever Irish Olympic medal in womens` rowing.
I see Charlie Haughey`s grand niece won a silver medal in the 200m freestyle swimming today. Unfortunately she was representing her mother`s native country Hong Kong rather than Ireland but I suppose we could claim it as an Irish medal anyway.

Charlie would be very proud, and even more proud if the tricolour had been raised above her
Best of luck to O Donovan / McCarthy later,
    They would be WCLs, WCL?

Alice Kinsella daughter of former Irish international Mark Kinsella, has won a bronze medal in gymnastics
She won her bronze medal along a pair of Dublin born 16 year old twins,
Fantastic achievement, unfortunately the level of funding available to IOC, probably means those medals would not have been won in Irish colours

They sure would Paul. I`m not from the Skibbereen area myself but it wouldn`t be a million miles away from where I live. Also Phil Healy who will be competing in the 200m and 400m next week is from my general area so fingers crossed for her too.
