Default Does anybody know what happened to those "talked to" by Gardai during Operation Quest

Did the "Director of Public Prosecutions" decide to actually persecute those who the Gardai had spoken with after they were suspected of purchasing sex a couple of years ago during "Operation Quest"?

My understanding is that 30 to 40 people that were talked to by gardai had their details taken and those details were forwarded to the DPP. I'm not sure how it works but wouldn't the public of heard something by now in the media if those people actually were charged by now?

Did you post this on various forums? Were you questioned? I would imagine if the gards weren't told anything incriminating they won't go any further.

The punter and the Escort need to say nothing. The danger is that if the Escort can be blackmailed by the Gardai she will spill the beans. If the Lady happens to be sharing then she can be coerced into admitting what the punter was up to

The danger is being there in the first place, remember most these were well known brothels that were under surveillance anyway.
you mention the escort here working alone but the risk here is very small indeed as firstly you will hardly ever get the police monitoring any escorts working alone, there is no point as nothing illegal there and its not a priority and won't gain anything and just wasting their time
Sharing is so different, It is not the case of blackmail as such but cutting a deal as they say and this is happening under the Nordic law, it where the sex workers get let off being arrested and get to keep their items and sometimes cash in return for incriminating the client and its not a difficult decision for them,
Stay away from such places and go to the lady working solo and you got very little to worry about

I wasn't questioned and I'm not sure whether you can just remain silent in front of a garda who is questioning you about what you were doing inside of the apartment you just came out of? Aren't you legally obliged to tell the truth if a garda approaches you after coming out of an apartment complex of a known escort?

you just by law have to give your correct name and address nothing more, the Guards didn't really have a clue and most did not even know the law, just sent out to let on they were doing something but they upped a gear since them times

When I was stopped by an Garda they told me I wasn’t in trouble but they wanted to make sure the girl wasn’t being trafficked , they told me I wasn’t breaking the law , ( this was after the new laws were brought in , so they were wrong ) it’s difficult not to say anything as they have seen you coming from an apartment,
My advise is to say as little as you can and deny everything

That's really interesting. That tells me that it must be at the Garda's discretion whether or not to pursue someone seriously even if the law states otherwise. Even if the current legislation states that you were personally breaking the law at that very moment when the garda approached you it seems that he used his discretion when talking to you?

Can I ask what kind of questions he asked you? Did they take your personal details?

What "times" are you referring to? Are you talking about before the new laws were introduced?

If they have "upped their gear" since then does that mean a punter that is approached by a garda today is still only obliged to give their name and address? Or do the guards have more power now?

Nordic Law was never enforced in Ireland, it never got off the ground really, Operation Quest was a shambles and is gone so nothing really as changed much only more violence against girls from the usual low-lifes thugs and trafficking grew more.
Guards were not sure what the law was themselves and were confused and poorly briefed, just ridiculous
You only have to give your name and address and nothing more to a Guard when stopped.
