Thread: Does anybody know what happened to those "talked to" by Gardai during Operation Quest

Also am I right in saying that the guards are using some sort of tracking technology that logs phone records of people that call escorts? So they basically store this information on a database to incriminate people? I remember reading about that not too long ago but I'm not sure whether it's true....

    Your not. Trust me.

As I said ,they told me I was in no trouble checked my tax and insurance and sent me on my way.
In retrospect I think I was lucky , they seemed like men of the world so no harm,
I had a similar experience. A location was being watched by Gardaí and I was approached by two ban Gard's who followed me to my vehicle checked the front window screen and sent me on my way ..

Given that a duo is a standard request, you are correct

My advise is to say as little as you can and deny everything
Best approach in most circumstances. If you admit you have paid for sexual services you can of course be easily convicted there was a case some time back. Many lines have been written over the years on this topic on this forum but the prevailing view is that this crime is not an easy one to police.
Unless incriminating statements are made or you are literally caught in the act during a police raid. The DPP will be very unlikely to bring a case before the courts without at least one piece of substantial evidence. At the end of the day the law permits prosecution of the offence of paying for sexual services and anybody who visits escorts is most likely breaking this law and is subject to prosecution. Much advice has been given on how best to minimise the risk of being hauled before the courts and most individuals would be wise to heed it.

Would it be prudent to punt only at shift handover times for the filth? Get a nice hour in there

What's the actual likelihood of getting a formal conviction if you're caught though? If you have no previous convictions is it possible that the judge could adjourn the case? Since it's a very recent law I would imagine there would be some sort of leniency within reason? People's lives and careers could come to an end with a formal conviction. It would take over 7 years for a formal conviction to be spent/expunged from your record.

Depends on the judge and the headlines at the time. Some judges want to "send a message", others are just working through cases. First time offences are generally struck out after a donation to the poor box.

none of these will be struck out unless the Guards really cock the evidence up and especially now they can't afford to with mounting pressures.

Can potential employers find out if you had to go to court because of a first time offence involving the purchase of sex? Or can they only find out about formal convictions?
