    Need ten letters .

: my face was So sunburnt : push on my nose and the skin would stay dented :

face turned dark dark brown before peeling in a rigid mask like way . Don’t wish it upon anyone !

Especially the roof of the mouth plus inside nose aspect .

I am eternally grateful I had enough sense to wear sunglasses 😎 . Be blind otherwise .

Were you tempted to go ahead and get a permit?

I already stated I had American Alpine Club membership which covered me to 6,500 meters .

I never did say I attempted to climb the mountain .

I merely said I Have been on the mountain - due to exceedingly fortuitous coincidence and

good fortune - I was allowed to go up as high as Camp 1 without permit .

That was an exceptional thing to have been able to do .

Even back then trekkers were not allowed to do more than just to mosey around

basecamp for a spell , then descend back to Gorak Shep . I stayed with the

    American expedition+ - hence I didn’t have to go down / was great !

    He is being disrespectful .

Don’t much care for that .

    The mountain Has been corrupted beyond belief ;

When I was there it was different , unbelievable beauty without hordes : in 2001

I believe there were 19 (?) expeditions on the South side .

It’s a good thing that not a single ounce of my self worth is based on being ‘accepted’ .

I know the beauty I experienced - which fools like the one above never will - ; I have

    Nothing to prove .

I think even in 01, it would still have been very busy and commercialised. My time in Nepal much earlier than that though as I said never up that direction.

As far as I'm concerned, the biggest achievement is getting past the ice fall. The physical challenge after is of course huge, but apart from the elements and logistics it should be fairly routine. The ice fall, however, would be terrifying.

I'd be more concerned about the 6-8 weeks I'd have to live there & quickly adapt to committing to that timeframe!!

Another scare for me would be the possibility of frost bite for example if I lost my glooves 400 metres from the SUMMIT.

I read a 13 year old boy was 22 metres away from the summit (yes 22 metres) & he had to turn back to frost bite and ended up losing 2 fingers, luckily for him he got to the summit the following year but he will never get those 2 fingers back

Like I said, you don't wake up on a Tuesday and say hey maybe I'll climb Everest. It is, even now, an Expedition.

And it is not easy, no matter who you are.
