This is correct, more effective law enforcement targeting the money . These two are pimps make lots of cash and laundering it.

The cops can easily get the apartment addresses by making false bookings up to the point where they get the apartment number, then track the owners. Then get the tenant details, pps numbers, bank details, refs, etc.

Then it’s easy to get enough evidence to get convictions.

They are not trying to drag reluctant, scared, non English speaking, girls into court to try to convict these pimps of trafficking. This method is much easier and effective.

Innocent punters and decent independent escorts are not been victimised.

Even EI hasn’t been targeted.

Well done “new vice unit”. Keep up the good work and admit “Operation Quest” is a failure.

My guess is there are a relatively small number of big players operating here, facilitating the escorts by providing accommodation and organising tours around the country.

According to Carolyn in a post quoted above he was renting out apartments.

So he was facilitating escorts by renting apartments long term and subletting them weekly it seems, if that is the case he has just been doing what lots of others are doing in allowing an escort to rent their apartment for a short term.

IMO the only offences here would be tax evasion.

That's what I was wondering about. The news story with the 71 charges against him gives the impression that the guy was running/pimping the girls like the pimps/brothel runners in 1970s based series The Deuce.
From above it seems like he was just offering the girls a service by renting out the apartment to them.
Sure he was making a tax free buck out of it and technically he was operating a brothel according to the law.
But this just seems to me like the Garda can't catch the actual pimping gangs and decided to go for this easier fish and put it all on him to serve as deturent.

He knew what he was doing was wrong but he Might have gotten a raw deal all the same?
Tax evasion, brothel running maybe, not sure about anything else.

Maybe we don't have all the info and maybe he was renting to pimps as well or was involved with them but I'm not sure about this new vice squad. Hopefully it doesn't turn out like the vice squads in America did.
