You have a very good point. Unfortunately, some of the vaccines out now only have partial defence to the new strains. I think actually the Oxford is somewhat effective to the SA strain but not fully. Hopefully COVID doesn't start mutating like crazy.

    My sentiments precisely!
    Are we there yet ?

I have serious concerns about the booster vaccine being delayed as is happening in the UK.

Are any of you experts on the subject or have a keen interest ?

If a vaccine is produced and requires 2 shots 4 weeks apart for it to work then that is the way it should be dispensed .

Presumably the trials conducted to get it approved followed the company guidelines for it's use.

One shot could give people a false sense of security which may prove fatal to them or their family
By pushing out the date of second dose from three weeks to 12 ,

the UK is busy breeding Vaccine resistant Virus .

In medicine , in pandemic control , in epidemiology , you cannot

willy nilly ‘decide’ that you’re Not going to follow established medical protocol ,

that you will Not follow medical schedule and advice !!

: the first injection will incapacitate those viruses that are already easily susceptible

to such an ‘attack’ . They will die .

However , because there IS a diversity within the virus population that is in the body

of Each infected individual , it is inevitable that there will be a proportion of the virus

population that is not as easily steamrolled : those viruses just get ‘tickled’ by that

first dose , and they will go on and continue their little lifecycle and multiply and mutate .

And only Those will survive that are hardy enough against the body’s

immune response that was elicited by the First injection . Presto .

: if you do Not administer the second dose On Schedule ! , the virus will have enough time

to regroup and mutate sufficiently that the second dose given at 6 weeks , 12 weeks will be

ineffectual - thereby they had managed to breed a virus that is resistant ( if not immune )

    to the current vaccine .

UK making a mind numbing tremendous mistake in their strategy .

At this point I’d say All govts should throw All their available vaccines at UK

just so They could administer second dose On schedule — even if it means

We have to wait a bit longer .

Us waiting a short while longer is as tragic as it may be on individual level - those

who might get sick / die , is STILL the lesser of two evils .

Humanity at this point can not afford idiotic UK political posturing bring a resistant

    Covid into this world !

: other countries have held off on administering First dose until March !! , because

there is a shortage and they did not have enough to give second shot - sensible and

admirable - not giving in to politics and clamoring for votes . Pragmatic , science based response .

Applaudable - though it should be elementary .

/ And the false sense of security !

So bloke gets first vaccine , goes out neglects Social Distance / Mask , and now is

breeding vaccine resistant virus in his body and becomes a superspreader .

God help us ; those UK politicians should be strung Up — risking not only their Own ,

    but all of humanity .

/ do Google my info .

/ also on my Twitter timeline a good Doctor pontificates On same .
I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.

I agree Stephanie, delaying the second dose for up to 12 weeks is mind numbingly crazy stupid.

Yes I know they want to give as many people as possible the first dose but this is feckin crazy and very very dangerous.

I agree, can't understand the thought process there. Unless they have some miracle turnaround in the supply chain planned.

But I think that your thinking is flawed.
Personally I'm rarely sick and I'm told I have a robust immune system. My body generally responds well to vaccines and I develop higher antibodies than the average person.
By me not getting it someone else will get it sooner.

Not necessarily if a spot is booked for you and you don't show up that vaccine could be wasted.

I wouldn't be like that. If I couldn't keep an appointment for something I'd always cancel it. My thinking on this could change as time goes on but right now the whole vaccine situation is a big vague for me. Personally I don't think I need it.

I have a feeling and I hope I'm wrong on this, that we are going to battling this shit for most, if not all of 2021. Mother nature is hard to beat. It will probably die out itself down the line but with a price in terms of deaths.
