Stephen Silver. Grabbed the gun of a Garda and killed him with it. Trial is continuously delayed due to his mental health issues.

Different scenario. Rural Roscommon..all bullets were discharged by the time unarmed officers arrived on the scene.

This is not about colour. Ever heard of John Carty?

This man is probably the first black person killed by Gardaí in a siege situation.

I wouldn't have replied as bluntly as he did but please don't be turning this tragedy into another Police/Garda race issue. I don't believe that the victim's race or skin colour were a factor in this case.
It is a tragedy for the victim, his family and all concerned. There will obviously be an inquiry into this incident, let's not make assumptions about something we know very little about.
    Are we there yet ?

There's a happy medium between being delighted that a man has lost his life and making him the focus of playing out your American-imported culture war performance art.

I'm very sad to see what happened yesterday. There does need to be a full inquiry and any lessons that need learning are learned.
And Dr. B said... nothing, you idiots!
Dr. B's dead, he's locked in my basement!

    Protests now in Dublin
Over the Death. seen the picture of the person he slashed with the knife. It’s horrific. Race and culture has nothing to do with it

If you had been there at the time & viewed the incident - then fine comment - otherwise say nothing and mind your own business - you do not know what went on.......

It would appear that the actions of the deceased lead to him being deceased.

The long and the short of it is, don't bring a knife to a gunfight. I have no sympathy for him or anyone who behaves the way he did.

Didn't he rob a Spar shop?
    Slash a man's face?
Does that not establish him as a thug?

Mental issues or not, faced with an already bloodied knife, he is a very credible and proven threat to life.

Unfortunate but he committed serious crime and I would prefer to see him dead than a Garda or innocent person.

Apparently the Gardai spent considerable time attemping to talk him around. Apparently they took every other course of action available first. Eventually during an attack they fired 4 shots into the air. The victim didn't stop his attack, and was shot.
