My bathroom is haunted, something terrible happened in there!

A friend of mine sees strange happenings so often that he doesn't ever comment when he sees something strange, unless someone else mentions seeing it too.
One night when driving home on a foggy night with him as a passenger, something floated in the middle of the road and it lifted over the car before I had time to react.
I looked across at my passenger and he was sitting stonefaced but silent. I says "Did I just imagine that" And He returns "Thank shit you saw it too".
I turned the car around and drove back to find the remains of a Chinese lantern, It must have been drifting back down after burning out.

This story isn't the one that I intended to write about.
This friend once asked me to help him to remove a couch from his house. This was a couch that he had purchased second hand the previous weekend. We carried it to the end of his garden where he doused it in petrol and incinerated it.
On the night of the incident in the car he told me why he burnt the couch. Everytime he sat down on it, an old man joined him, the previous owner of the couch.
