    Puts things in perspective.

We think we have it bad being in lockdown.

    We don’t.

I had visited the Auschwitz camp and the Birkenau barracks which is 3km away.
Terrible thing to learn what had happened, I knew a lot before I visited, but learnt so much more when I was there.

My step Grandfather was in Auschwitz and had managed to escape.
He was tortured had his eye cut open, but didn't lose it, while his wife and kids were killed in front of him.

What the Nazi's did is unspeakable for many and hard to believe, but it happened.

We are so lucky not to be in that situation.

In Birkenau barracks, they would have up to 20,000 prisoners at a time they would do random counts throughout the year.
No matter the weather, they would count each person one by one and if there was a miscount, they would start all over again, which could take hours in the day.
People would drop dead and nobody would be allowed to touch them, the dead would still be counted.

We have no idea how lucky we have it.

Yet we see in Charlottesville USA last year a group chanting Blood and Soil a know Nazi chant and using exact Nazi symbols and I wonder how anyone in their right mind can be comfortable with Trump who refused to condemn them

On the comparison to Covid I think we need to be more constructive and positive despite it and not allow a sense of how bad it is become a fact we have many of our essentials still
Our Grandparents and parents dealt with many hardships we can handle this pandemic with its tragedies
