That is very strange to withdraw due to covid, the odds would be very low of contacting it. If I was 65 and got into the world championship i'd play in covid or no covid. worth the risk for me..

Well according to Hearn in an interview, Hamilton will not be let back in.

Which would be a strange move given the knock to the credibility of the sport by having a 31 man World Championship, but I guess if anything is clear from the last few weeks, Hearn doesn't care about giving the sport's detractors more ammo to shoot it down

Judd is lacking confidence, he 9-7 up now, not looking like a world champion

Trump wins the match 10-8 and goes through to the last 16 but based on this performance it certainly doesn`t look like he will be lifting the trophy in 2 weeks time. Anyway he doesn`t play his next match until next Thursday so maybe he can find some of his old form in the meantime.

In a meeting of the veterans 2018 World champion Mark Williams is 4-5 down to Alan McManus after the first session of their match, Stuart Bingham leads Ashley Carty 5-4 and Ding Junhui leads Mark King by the same score.

You often find that a slowstarter can improve as tournament progresses, so hopefully Judd improves , he definitely needs to

Ding Junhui won his match which went to the final frame against Mark King 10-9 and is through to the last 16. After the first session of their match last year`s beaten finalist John Higgins has a 6-3 lead over Matthew Stevens.

Higgins in control against Stevens, Stevens shot selection at times was poor to put it mildly, he needs to win next couple of frames to have a chance
