What would be your justification for claiming VAT back on this service? I am not aware of any tax regime that allows you to deduct our services as an expense. Yet, it doesnt mean that the service provider is not entitled to add VAT to its service, especially given the fact that all monies go through their accounts. If this was not the case then I am guessing VAT would not necessarily be applied (depending on their country registration legislation)

In the UK it is not illegal but still like most countries not tax deductible yet the provider is obliged to pay VAT on any earnings over a threshold. What you are talking about here probably does not apply to 99.9% of the subscribers.
