Default Not All Porn Is Consensual. Don’t Believe It? Just Ask These Performers.

    quote
A shoot is not complete and performers not paid until the exit interview, in which performers confirm the acts were consensual. Often, the director who just filmed the scene will interview the performer, asking questions like, “Did you have a good time?” and “Were you raped or abused?” and “Would you shoot with us again?” A performer’s paycheck is held hostage unless they answer “correctly.”

It’s a very long article but worrying. It points to the need for regulation. Similar to the campaign for black lives matter it addresses a real problem. The sad reality is that female exploitation is not just in porn but also in main stream, Harvey Weinstein.

Every job's paycheck is held hostage until they have the work done, and if they say they aren't going to come back then the employer can get away with not paying as they weren't coming back anyway. You have to give the right answers regardless what job you have

    Crawls out of the woodwork.

Not all sex work is consensual. This is not a new problem. Modern slavery also exists today in a variety of forms. Just like you can ensure you purchase ethically produced clothing or fair trade food products, if you watch porn you should apply the same judgement. There are a number of ethical and performer-oriented producers (e.g. Erika Lust). Or instead focus on performers who also self-produce (e.g. Riley Reid). By doing so you dont help perpetuate the problem.

I support regulation. Also, DYOR, but the article is written by folks who would prefer to completely shut down the sex worker industry. All aspects of it. They believe that anyone involved in any kind of sex work is a victim or not in control of their lives. Just take a look at some of the articles on their site and read their mission. Sex work is work and is the oldest form of work. As such it and those in it should get the respect and protections they deserve.

    Crawls back into the woodwork.

August Ames actually Mercedes Grabowski. If your interested in this topic I would recommend a podcast/audio book by Jon Ronsen. The one regarding Mercedes's suicide is called the last days of August. It's actually an informal follow up to a longer audio book called The butterfly affect. This is regarding the foundation of Pornhub and it's affect on the porn industry. Really fascinating stuff.

Not all that surprised really and points to a wider societal problem at large.

i've said before how i felt a lot of porn being made these days isn't about the mutual giving and receiving
of pleasure but rather degradation, humiliation and inflicting pain and abuse.

some of the stuff out there in the "mainstream" isn't porn, its assault

it can be hard sometimes to find stuff that doesn't involve the above!

I actually did a quick search on porn hub this morning and a five minute segment of the video involving Riley Nixon appears to be still available, just the language in the first 5 seconds was enough for me to turn it off. Maybe it's an age thing but the majority of what passes for mainstream porn at best leaves me cold and at worst i find revolting. While it is obviously disgusting to read these accounts it is also quite worrying that teenagers might be gaining their sex "education" from such videos and while you would hope that the vast majority will understand that this fantasy even if 5% thought that this sort of depiction of consensual sex was the norm it is very worrying!

I feel the easy access to porn and parents refusal to believe their child watches it means children are getting access to porn before they know we can make love with feelings and caring about each other.

Parents need to step up and accept they need to talk to their children about love making not just sex dont do it its dirty

Come on parents step up - grow up - talk to your children - tell them mummys not a virgin.
Love making is how you child (hopefully) came into the world and sex is great too but not violent like on abusive porn sites.
    that's my opinion anyway.
I think you are going to see an increase in teenage boys commiting sex crimes. The root cause will be all the free porn on the web. If the pubs were handing out free beer, a load of people would become alcoholics.

There was a sociologist in India who went to the prisons and analysed the sex offenders who had committed violent crimes like rape or gang rape. The two things she found common were: One, they had low IQ (they were dumb) and two, they were addicted to pornography.

Ted Bundy was once asked what was the one common thing between him and all the other inmates in the prison where he was. He replied, without question, they were addicted to some form of pornography.

High IQ does not mean you are less likely to be a criminal. Possibly means you are less likely to commit certain crimes.

Ted Bundy’s IQ was tested at 136, which falls in the “gifted” range. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Washington. He put his intelligence to use by tricking his victims in order to lure them in close, including faking injuries and impersonating a police officer. He also was able to escape twice from police custody.

There is a long list of criminals who were card-carrying members of Mensa.
