An escort on a local NI web site has been blackmailing punters who call her.

I am not shocked to hear this, but if anybody is trying to blackmail people in such ways, then I hope they are punished by the law.
It is unfair and cruel to act in such manner.

One wonders how the authorities dealt with the victims.
Were they then in turn convicted under the Nordic Law statute?

I would assume that they have to be caught paying for sex.
Admitting to it, will not be enough evidence for the law to act on.

And in this case, they only admitted that they only got blackmailed after contacting the escort.

I suppose if pursued,it would depend on the content of the individual texts

Glad to see that victims reported this, and the blackmailers getting prosecuted.
To anyone that is targeted by this type of crime, do not pay, blackmailers will not leave a cash cow, eventually you will run out of money and then they can still expose you.

There was a couple in my hometown that played a honey trap. She would entice a married man into her bed but her boyfriend would always show up just when things were about to go a step too far. They got their comeuppance when they targeted the wrong guy, his marraige had broken up the previous week but was not public knowledge yet. Word is that he didn't stop when the boyfriend burst in but instead launched his torpedoes. The blackmailing couple were ran out of town that weekend.

On a documentary "24 Hours in Police Custody" a punter was blackmailed. Turned out blackmailer was one of the cops. They protected punter from court appearance and threw book at cop.
Said they take blackmail seriously because it can escalate to more serious crimes.
