You can get on the train but the ticket inspector will ask where are you going and why
I'm not sure if he has any legal power to stop you, you may also be stopped at the station in Dublin, but I didn't see that happening last week

I seriously doubt you’ll have any major problems if you have a half plausible reason, medical appointment will only work if you have an appointment letter, the essential worker letter is a life saver I find, no Garda has actually read mine, they just want to know you have one, I’m planning a trip to Dublin next week so I’m hoping my luck holds
