Apparently Ireland has managed to ‘Flatten the Curve’ of Covid infections ;
No ‘Peak’ expected .
Now if That holds , that’s really good news !!

Hopefully the number of infections declines daily.
Flatten the curve means there are still 500 new infections every day. If you can get the curve to fall, that would be nirvana.

Ireland is doing a very good job of managing this crisis , both the people participating and the state providing leadership . Im glad I live here and not the US or UK ,, we will come out of this into whatever the new normal is in a good state as a society. We may be broke but we will be safe ..

It is so easy to fall into the trap of idealism. Realistically, this will be going on till next summer at the least. That is unless we find a treatment of some sort.
Some expert in the uk was saying there will ten more waves before the vaccine. I think it was ten he said.
Social distancing will be here for quite a while i feel. Restuarants will have to operate on takeaways only. Pubs will be closed for a while.
The thing about the flattening the curve method is that they still expect a lot of people to be infected. It is just that the health system does not become bogged down when you go that direction.
Spanish Flu was two years. This will be there or thereabouts. Unless we find a treatment, which i hope to god we do.

Well, his post seems to be positive compared to the potential gloom of bad news about no evidence to suggest once you've had covid19 that you are not susceptible to reinfection. I hope evidence does come out that we are, but it will take time to gather the data, only other way to do it is deemed unethical and putting lives at risk, placing someone had recovered into an environment with infected people.

Apparently it could have been up to 7000 cases a day if we didn't have a lockdown.
Great news.
I think the key going forward long term is social distancing and keeping social circles small.
I think with regards to this hobby, building trusted limited relationships is the way to go. Possibly idealistic on my part, but I think it can work.
