    Mask Up !

A mask protects people around you , it protects you ! Slow the transmission ,

Flatten the Curve ! So healthcare workers can keep up and not die on the job .

Today another healthcare worker died : 39 year old young woman .

    Mask Up !!!

Yes. this is a really good home made mask, duck billed masks take a little more work but the effort is worth it as it helps keep the fabric from getting moist.
But I have been looking for vacuum cleaner bags already this week. The shops that sell them are all closed.

I hope you need to pee 3 times tonight, but that you only wake up twice.

This is a problem with the lockdown, I wish that DIY, Craft and Hobby and books shops were allowed to be open so that we could purchase things to keep ourselves busy.

I would love to make these masks, Stephanie's recommendation is the best I have seen and with providence from a doctor it's really good. But I need access to the likes of the hepa filter bags

I assume those charities that take the old mobile phones recycle the parts. Or am i wrong?

True. Anything where you are in a confined area is risky. So a train, a plane, a bus, a taxi driver, someones house.

Shops may not be too bad because people only spend a small amount of time in them. But then if one of the actual people working in the shop has it, you could be in trouble.

But they all have market values, when the cost of recycling is more than the cost of mining or initial production, companies will not bother.

The recycling process for these things is very messy, and I think they ship them off to places where health standards are lower.

As soon as recycling is cost efficient, you can be sure companies will do it.

If these hepa filter materials "leak" or shed glass fibre particles, aren't we blowing these fibres all over the house while vacuuming? Also most air-conditioning systems will include a hepa filter. I'm guessing that these filters have passed safety standards but there may be an issue with cut edges, perhaps a cotton lining would help.

He says in the video that it hasn't been tested and his advice is anecdotal.

Being a doctor doesn't make you an expert in medical device manufacture, and everyone specialises in one field or another.

It is a shame, people will go and make these, and end up with all sorts of issues. The guy should take the video down.

I think the safest advice is not to make home made masks if you're not an expert. The issue here is proximity. The mask is literally inches from your lungs and all of your breath goes directly through the fabric. In its intended use the particles would be very widely dispersed in a large volume of air.
