A German virologist put the death rate at 0.37% (not 3.7%). He said that there is a huge amount of people who have been infected who did not know they were infected. He also says it should be the same in all countries because its the same virus.

Agh I wouldn't be concerned with us being 21st it is quite inaccurate, there is a backlog of tests, imagine we are in lockdown for a good while now, if someone tested positive, in that time if they got more sick they would be hospitalised or in ICU but chances are they are more likely to be recovered

This is part of the reason the virus is so successful, and insidious. It has, and is being spread, by people who don't know they are carrying it.
Also, the death rate may be "only" 0.37% but that is still a lot of people and the seriously ill will consume a lot of resources from the health services.

The death rate is affected by the healthcare system's capacity, social response, and some diversity issues.
So while the underlying virus may have a death rate of 0.37%, all things being equal - but unfortunately all things are not equal.
America has excellent healthcare, but not everyone can access it affordably, and their preparation has been abysmal.
South Korea, for example, is an example of how to do it and their death rate has been much lower.
In China a lot of people smoke.
And older people are much more likely to die from it, so countries with an older age profile will have a bigger death rate.
