I got this thought before that law.
Perhaps landlords who know what the girl is up would think she has lots of money and ask for the full rent.

Your in a foreign country, you cannot get home you do not have the funds to get thorough next maybe 3 months, you could become homeless and not even be able to eat. V easy to judge. They should not be working I v doubt they want to but there choices are nowhere near as easy as ours, not remotely.

The perception that girls are sitting on huger amounts of cash is just not true for many . What do they do
I hear you, and they need to contact their own embassies here in the first instance.

Take for example Irish citizens in Peru, stranded, no money, no place to stay, and there are plenty in this situation. this is the Irish Govts problem and they are our citizens and it is up to our local embassy's etc to help these people and also to work with the relevant authorities to keep these people safe.

The advice from SWAI to these girls was dreadful.

First word of advice contact your own embassy - they have a duty of care, what you were working at last week is irrelevant

Then contact the likes of SVDP or the many other charitable groups who will and do help people

If you are threatened with eviction contact the RTB for advice or citizens information

The reality is none of the girls continuing to work are likely to get enough clients to make a weeks wages anyway so they need help and they need it now, and relying on clients through the door will not work

Well said. Exactly. People love to count somebody else’s money. But they never count your expenses. And they are huge huge in our job.

Michelle I hear you, and sadly the girls are not getting good advice from SWAI

They need to be helped with information about help in paying rent, or where they can get help with food and essentials etc.

The govt has already stated that all visas are automatically extended for a number of months, so they need not worry about their immigration status.

There are many many charities out there that can and will help in this regard, the best place they can start is with their own embassies.

Maybe PM me details of numbers of girls in Dublin that need help with food and maybe a few clients will help with myself in arranging food parcels and you can then help with distribution of same.

Everyone is affected by this covid19, stopped working, losing business etc. People do not understand if they don’t stop working/going outside unnecessarily, it will take longer and longer to stop the virus, because the infections will increase by day passing.

In other countries the police goes to working apartments and tell the ladies to stop working.

    Thank you.
Yes they need advice how to deal with it. Know their rights. Don’t be afraid.

I doubt that there is a girl who will go to embassy or charity to ask for help. Now everybody feel horrible and embarrassed and low that they got t in this situation.

Well I don’t know many girls. Or talk to them. So dunno who need such help.

Osterholm paints a grim picture. This is a winter and not a bad storm that lasts a few days. He says it will continue until we have a vaccine.

He says that the states will run out of parts for ventilators soon enough. A ventilator has 500 parts, shipped from around 15 countries who will also be in lockdown.

I think the lockdown here will continue until May. But then once we open up the country again, it will just return.

When will the virus be completely gone world wide? I think next year.

    Really?

Well if we don’t stop. We will have more Garda and Army outside and getting penalties. If we don’t start to behave.

I'm guessing a lot of girls from outside the EU are here on student visas and allowed work 19 hours a week. There is no shame in them going to their embassy, or to charities, and their health must come first.

I've no idea how we can reach out to them as they most likely do not read the forum and certainly not this part of it.

I do fear though that they will not only be judged by their neighbors but they will be reported to the gardai as people are scared.
