Are massages also illegal?
Are massages also illegal?
In theory, yes, because the law refers to "sexual services". In practice, I believe they are a lot safer, because evidence may not be so easily gathered, and any police operation is much more likely to target escorts.
Having said that, if you are reasonably careful and choose well-reviewed ladies, the risks are tiny in either case.

thanks for your answer.
When you say the risks are tiny can you elaborate for me?
In Ireland
“Payment etc. for sexual activity with prostitute
7A. (1) A person who pays, gives, offers or promises to pay or give a person (including a prostitute) money or any other form of remuneration or consideration for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity with a prostitute shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction—
(a) in the case of a first offence, to a class E fine, and
(b) in the case of a second or subsequent offence, to a class D fine.
(2) In this section ‘sexual activity’ means any activity where a reasonable person would consider that—
(a) whatever its circumstances or the purpose of any person in relation to it, the activity is because of its nature sexual, or
(b) because of its nature the activity may be sexual and because of its circumstances or the purposes of any person in relation to it (or both) the activity is sexual.”,
In Northern Ireland
“Paying for sexual services of a person

(3) In paragraph (1), “payment” means any financial advantage to B, or any person other than B, including the discharge of an obligation to pay or the provision of goods or services (other than sexual services)gratuitously or at a discount.
(4) No offence is committed under this Article unless the sexual services that are provided or are to be provided by B to A involve—
(a)B being physically in A’s presence,
(b)B touching A or A touching B, and
(c)the touching being sexual; or
(d)B touching B in a sexual manner for the sexual gratification of A, B being physically in A’s presence.
(5) B does not commit an offence by doing anything which (apart from this paragraph) would amount to—
(a)aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring the commission of an offence under this Article by A;
(b)conspiring with A to commit an offence under this Article; or
(c)an offence under Part 2 of the Serious Crime Act 2007 (encouraging or assisting offences) in relation to the commission of an offence under this Article by A.”.

U can find online the law.... here I see they say in the title paying a prostitute but then they say any person (including a prostitute) .. hmm very misleading
any activity where a reasonable person will consider ... but what means a ''resonable'' person... this law like many laws leave lots of place for interpretation.... the heaven of lawyers

Massages are legal and I have enjoyed several legal massages.
A good massage can be better than sex. In fact, I have declined sexual services twice this year just so that I could get more massage for my money.
What isn't legal is paying or offering to pay for sexual services. I've enjoyed a few of them too.
Be very careful asking for services that are not offered. A legit masseuse, that never provides such service, could quite easily take offence and have you up in front of the judge.

Correct. Massage therapist live often with the stigma of being considered ..close to escorts.... I remember a friend of mine ordered a table massage (she is sport massage therapist) and the delivery guy when he brought the table he was smiling and said to her '' u do massageee''' and smiled cheeky ... u don't know what look she threw to him. Angry, furious I would say and she wanted to make complain to the company. SO yes, be careful asking services not advertised

I've been into massage long before I ever sought out escort services. In fact I once considered training as a masseur, but I was in a relationship at the time and she insisted "Not while my mother is still alive, she just would never understand".
I've just checked, her mother is now 94 and still going strong.
