'tis true. Of course we should keep in mind as well that there were and are some truly wonderful people in the religious orders.
My aunt was a nun and a teacher and she was truly the best figurehead anyone could ever have growing up. We all loved it when she came: she would bring us loads of stuff, help us and encourage us with schoolwork, praise us up, play games with us.... she was a great woman. She was always encouraging me and my sister, continually calling up and asking how we were doing. She was always smiling... even on her death bed she smiled and was in good form. She would never dream of doing anything amiss.... she did complain about the elder "mothers" or whatever they were called.... and it wasn't like her to ever speak badly about anyone. It really hurt her what was happening with the church... she did say once or twice that she didn't think it was as bad as they made out. And of course it wasn't.... not with the Magdalen laundries. I did see that movie (err... or most of one like it).... and the factual accuracy is disputed a lot.
Anyway she passed away then due to heart problems about two years ago, it was really sad for everyone.
She had an angioblast done but unfortunately it went wrong. Before she died she expressed some doubts over her chosen path... it's really sad.
Personally I don't think it's right to limit sexuality or any type of human behaviour so much... it's just a superstition that it's so bad. The real criminals these days are doctors and bankers who are doing far worse things than religious orders ever did.... even though there are probably a lot of good doctors as well. Escorting is one of the fairest trades of all. People just get weird superstitions over it and feel a huge need to control cause of their very strong feelings.... which can be thought out properly and I feel primatology is a big help in it as well, cause it demonstrates how we're designed to behave WITHOUT church/government/commercialism/culture getting their hands in on it.
