Default Galway - European City of Culture 2020

I just heard that the opening ceremony for the Galway culture year has been cancelled due to the bad weather in Galway, what a disappointment to the organisers who had worked hard for months to host it, I saw a sneak preview of what was planned and it was breath taking so disappointing as there was 50,000 expected to attend

A massive disappointment for the organisers and the people of Galway but Mother Nature does her own thing and there's nothing we can do about it.
    Hello darkness my old friend.....

Maybe a good time to charge up all the electronics? Some of us are likely to be without mains power for a while.

Mother nature and the universe cares little for any of us or our culture.

Ya it hit hard here after 4 , I think for health and safety reasons, there is no way they could go ahead
I’d say they had a fair idea a few days ago it might be canceled

Still very wild in the west, the waves and the swell in the sea is unreal, so many storms this year, is it a sign of things to come with our global warming , as Willie said stay safe as lots of tress down and debris flying around the place

    Limerick had the best bid.

Seen earlier that Galway City Council have withheld finance for the project as well.

Pity that it seems to be not working out as Galway is a great arts city.
