Only part i enjoyed. First two hours were a slog to get through. Never experienced that with a QT film before so for me it is easily his worst film.

Didn't he say directors tend to get worse over time and he would only do 10 films? Self fulfilling prophecy and all that. Hope his next film is better.

Joker was best movie for me, with Uncut Gems a very surprising v good movie.

The Irish man was good not great same with Once upon a time in Hollywood.
Uncut gems surprised me as well. Not a fan of Adam Sandler but i thought he killed it. Very well edited as well. I have never been so invested in a basketball game before in my life. Really intense film from start to finish.

This is why i can't bring myself to sit down and watch it. No one wants to watch a boring 3 and half hour film.

I was not bored at any stage in the film. It is like Goodfellas meets Once Upon a time in America. Without being as good as those two films.

The Departed and The Wolf of Wall Street are still better.

Dont think the critics helped at all. They were hyping it (the Irishman) up so much that it could not exceed peoples expectations.

Still good and funny in parts.

Too hyped up indeed. I know i won't be bored but i was hoping for more. People are barely talking about it (other than saying it's too long). Anyway, you've reminded me i've yet to watch Once Upon a Time in America. Have the extended version here coming in at a colossal 4hr 10 mins! Think i'll watch it instead

Once Upon a time in America is one of my favourite films. Its more a story of friendship and betrayal than an out and out gangster film.

Great story about it. The producers butchered it initially. Cut the film down to around two hours i think. One critic, perhaps Pauline kael said it was terrible, that version. Ten to fifteen years later she managed to see the Leone version as how he intended it and she said it was the best film of that decade (the eighties).

Interesting. I remember there being quite a few cuts when i was looking for it. In the end i played it safe and went for the longest cut.

I don't mind it not being an out and out gangster film. I'm more in the business of watching great films no matter what they are about. Tbh i have no idea how i haven't seen it already. Just one of those weird blind spots.

Thats the best western ever made. Perhaps only The Wild Bunch can match it.
