I was impressed by the bravery of Kevin Lunney giving such an impressive and touching interview only 6 weeks or so after such a brutal attack, on someone who worked tirelessly to protect many jobs in the border area, under constant intimidation over the last number of years. Very brave man imo

So quinn was paying money to protect him? From who and why does he need protection?

i cannot understand why they are attacking him other than some link to Sean Quinns former business. What has the business got to do with the attacks?

You do understand that "protection money" is paid so that the people collecting it don't burn down your factory/shop etc?
Just a "tax" payable to crime figures.
Its 50/50 whether Quinn was paying "protection money" to the IRA/INLA or facilitating them by laundering money for them.
In an operation turning tens of millions of pounds a week it would be easy to wash a half a million a month.
Not so easy when the new owners are Americian and would have their own auditors in place.
Quinn wsnts his companies back, and the criminals/terrorists want their revenue stream back.

Ok, that's an interesting thread on that other board, but it seems to have narrowed down to a number of reasons as to the intimidation.

One is that Quinn was paying protection money to the local paramilitaries, when the business went belly up the gravy train ended, and the boys want their slice of the pie.

The second is that the paramilitaries were laundering money through Quinn, maybe, who knows.

What is quite clear is that Sean Quinn wants his businesses back, or at least he did up to the time of the Kevin Lunney attack. While I doubt he would be so stupid to orchestrate a campaign of terror against the current board of QIH, there are clearly others who are prepared to do whatever it takes to get the board out, and in all likelihood, get the Quinns back in.
