Anyone who committed murder should be held accountable Tommy. I can understand why people in Derry feel the way they do, but at some point we will all have to draw a line in the sand if we ever want lasting peace. You will always get people who bring disgrace by their actions the army is no difference. There were also a lot of frighten young lads who just wanted to go home and family men just doing their job. They wanted to go home to their kids. People forget that at the end of the day the Army is just a job and a very shit Job at that. Including civilians working for the British Army, the official death figures for Op Banner is 1400 souls who didn't make it home. This isn't counting those who blew their own brains out with their own PPW because they were suffering from PTSD, or those disfigured, or disabled.

I am sensitive to the feelings a poppy may cause in Derry and I don't wear one to shove it in anyone's face. This in itself would disrespect the symbol and why people wear it. I do not wear a poppy on the street because of this. On Sunday I will wear one paper poppy on my coat while attending a Church service to remember the fallen. You know why I will be at that service. When I pay my respects I will come home and take off my poppy. For me it is about respect and this is why I wear a poppy, but some people may think differently and that's OK too.
Each person should be fee to choose this was the reason why so many fell in WWI and WWII to protect the right to be free. There is no right or wrong answer mate.

I just think the original thread is a pile of horse shit, like so many of this posters threads. I think most of his posts are only attention seeking to be honest. If someone said that grass was green, he would find offense and post that all grass should be painted purple.

But you are right my friend, it is more fun looking at advents than talking politics. There p a lot of lovely woman to see in Derry this week. Its like buses, none and then 5 come at the same time lol.

I am friends with a number of Republicans. We fought on different sides of the conflict. I also worked very closely with SF, and former IRA and Loyalists terrorists in the past to bring about peace. I was respected by both sides of the community because I showed respect for their views and always told them the truth. This is what kept me alive.

RESPECT is the key to building something lasting in Ireland for our kids. Before, someone points out the DUP's actions, I have nothing to do with the DUP. The point I was trying to make wth joggon, was change begins with ME! We are not responsible for anyone's actions, but our own. We can line live in the past and stay a victim, or we can get on with forging a better tomorrow for our kids. People like Joggon live in the past and are sill offended by something that happened to their great-great granny in 1921. In Ireland if a Republican brings up something from the past they and only seeking justice because he was a victim, but if a Unionist raises the past he is a bigot. Ireland is full of victims on both sides! Both sides did terrible things to each other! Both sides did terrible wrongs!

I take it that Mr Joggon comes from Southern Ireland. It kind of pisses me off that while were were killing each other in the North, he was sitting safe and sound in the South typing on his keyboard and being offended. Any normal person who lived in the North through the hight of The Troubles should never want to go back to that: Father's gunned down in front of their kids, car bombs like Omagh, tit-for-tat shootings and punishment shootings. I worked in Omagh after the bomb and I will take what I saw to the grave. I was was personally nearly blew up thee times, the first time I was still in my mothers womb.

I think there should be a political discussion section separate from general chat, that way our little friend could knock himself out, maybe even start his own blog.

You would think a bunch of horny perverts would want to talk about escort, girls and punting instead of a load of political tripe.
I wasn't disagreeing with you Joe. I'm a staunch Republican, but I'm no bigot. My point is ultimately the man can post whatever he likes (within reason) and there's no point being wound up by his opinion...you know what they say about opinions...

Yes Joggon doesn't speak enough...I'd like to see him post more verbally lol.

Plenty don't like me either, but would I be worried? They can PM the mods all they like...no skin off my nose.

Anyway you're a good sort...I can tell. All good Joe .

    Remember...other opinions are allowed ...

I have no issue with anyone wearing a poppy IF THEY CHOOSE TO WEAR 1. But in recent years it would appear that it has become obligatory for anyone appearing on a News or current affairs programme on British TV to wear a poppy.

We have seen the shite and abuse that James McClean had to put up with for refusing to wear 1 on his football jersey.

I couldn't give 2 fucks who wears a poppy or not, as long as they wear it of their own accord
