Not looking good for Derby. Even if they manage a draw they will still go down on goal difference if Rotherham hold on for the win.

As things stand Derby are heading for relegation today. Massive 2nd half needed by Rooney`s team.

Derby have turned their match around. They lead the Owls 2-1 and as it stands will be staying in the Championship next season.

Derby drew 3-3 with Sheffield Wednesday and just barely escape relegation after Rotherham drew 1- 1 with Cardiff which means the Yorkshire team drop through the trapdoor instead. Even so the Rams only took 1 point from their last 7 games and Rooney faces an uncertain future as their manager. The Owls also drop through the trapdoor which means both Sheffield clubs are relegated from their leagues this season. Grim times in the Steel City. Wycombe are also relegated despite winning their last 2 games which came too late for them to stay in the Championship.
In the playoff SFs Brentford will play Bournemouth and Swansea will take on Barnsley over 2 legs to decide which 2 teams will reach the playoff final and a chance to join Norwich and Watford in promotion to the PL next season.

Rooney should be buying Mick McCarthy a big bottle of champagne after the massive favour he done for Derby. You have to feel for Rotherham and Wednesday, even Wycombe. They all fought to the bitter end but just came up that bit short.

Fair play to Barnsley, they avoided relegation on the last day last season helped by Wigan getting deducted points & now they are in the playoffs.
No sales pitch, no media hype.

The 1st legs of the Championship play-off SFs take place this evening.
Bournemouth play Brentford at home. The London team will be looking to reach their 2nd play-off final in a row while the Cherries will be hoping to make an immediate rreturn to the PL after their relegation last season. I will go for a 1-1 draw.
Barnsley take on Swansea at home. The Swans were beaten at this stage of the play-offs last season and will be trying to at least reach the final this time around. I will go for the Welsh team to win 2-1.

Hope Brentford improve on last season play offs and make it to PL. They can be good watch but lately dropped in style a bit.

Swansea lead Barnsley 1-0 through an Ayew goal.

Barnsley hit the bar deep into injury time. Swansea win 1-0 and take the 1 goal lead into their home leg next weekend. With away goals not counting in the play-offs both SFs are still in the balance.
