and how many trailers are properly sealed, not many and this trailer seems to have been doing the rounds we are talking tractor unit trailers here not containers, this was a trailer, very few tractor unit containers will be properly sealed, my haulier does the checks as too many unscrupulous hauliers out there and why did the driver avoid the most direct and straight forward route - port, a port where its got all the latest technology to do the strict and proper checks that could detect whats on boards and save lives, why choose a port thats a haven for smugglers and where checks are not near as strict,
The driver that collected the container only collected it from the port in the UK. He did not take the container on a jolly around europe.and would have had no reason to know.where it came from. His job was to pick up a container from the port and deliver it still sealed.

Yes maybe he's involved but innocent untill proven guilty.

For those blaming the driver. He only had the trailer for less than an hour. He picked it up at the dock. He cannot check the load as the container was sealed and the serial number on the seal matches the serial number on the docket from where the trailer was sealed. So the driver in question had no access to the load. Once the seal was broken it was the driver himself who alerted the police.

it stinks of a trafficking gang, the offices in EE are not even legit and as i said how many got through the ports undetected before this, the driver may be innocent but i have my doubts but hope he is

It appears as if one of the girls family had paid 30,000 (not sure if € or $) for her passage. That's a hell of a lot of money here but must be enough to buy a house in Vietnam, o can't get my head around people who have access to that amount of money been desperate to move here, and risk their lives. I can understand fleeing war or poverty but people who are relatively rich just is hard to grasp why. Doesn't take away from the tradegy and hopefully some parents will give evidence to see these animals locked up for life.

Just reading in today's paper about the young Vietnamese girl who text her mum to tell her that her trip didn't succeed. Must be one of the most difficult things in life to get a message from your daughter telling you she is dying. €34000 appears to be amount paid. I'd be first to admit our country has a lot of problems but we do have so much to be thankful for

I maybe wrong but it is what I hear.
Therefore more slaves for the traffickers to bully when here and far from family.

Bless the innocents involved whether families, people in the truck, drivers who we hope are innocently caught up in this ( I think he was innocently caught up he called emergency services quickly it seems and only got the trailer shortly before. He seems to have no dealings with the trailer before pick up) and the emergency services who have now to cope with the aftermath of the people who died.

Those responsible are the governments of the countries who allow conditions in their countries to be so terrible people have to flee family and all they love to try to be safe.

Government and back handers are the guilty people at all times.

Happy safe countries do not have people traffickers.

Hang the governments along with the traffickers.
Very true Josephine, Governments are responsible for creating the opportunity for traffickers to flourish.
But where are the happy safe countries. Certainly not here. How many Irish people have been forced out of this country and trafficked to work illegally in other countries?
And those 39 souls in Essex, were they destined to a life of slavery? Are they gone to a better place?
To anyone that doesn't like me here.
I hope you need to pee 3 times tonight, but that you only wake up twice.

Maybe I'm getting very sensitive in my old age, maybe it's because I have daughters, but I'm shocked at how insensitive some people can be, what has happened here has touched me more than many things recently. The photo of that beautiful young girl in today's paper is really upsetting, when I think of the hope and expectations she had as she left her home, and all taken from her by the greed of people traffickers

This is a happy safe country, it may not have been many years ago, but in the world we live in today it is and be greatful you grew up here and not in Vietnam or similar.

I am not sad , I am very happy because I am very lucky to be together with my daughter .
Next . Maybe I become super sensitive because I can feel when a Mom sending her child
far away from her in a hope of a better life and what happened ?
