Liberal enough for abortion but not liberal enough for sex workers. Cant say its a womens choice then restrict it to certain things. Its all or nothing. Its a great way to spot panderers in power.
On 27 March 2017, the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017 was commenced into force.[1] The Act significantly amends the 1993 Act to provide that a person who pays, gives, offers or promises to pay or give a person (including a prostitute) money or any other form of remuneration or consideration for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity with a prostitute shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine of up to €500 for a first offence, and a fine of up to €1,000 for each subsequent offence.[24]
It's illegal to offer, promise, give or pay a person with money or anything else, for the purposes of engaging in sexual activity with a prostitute. Not just paying for sex.
They have to prove you offered, promised, gave or payed....

Reported on the radio that the Gardai have spoken to 23 individuals suspected of purchasing sex in Dublin, Cork and Waterford as part of operation Quest.
This occurred last Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hi Joe, Its illegal to pay for sex, comparing it to being drunk in public or other similar offences is not the same, its also illegal for escorts to share an apartment also known as Brothel keeping by law but this has always been illegal.
But how do you really know that an escort is working freely? Very Difficult unless you know them or heard
The legalisation of prostitution would be good if monitored correctly and suitable legislation brought in and carried out to tackle the vile and corrupt elements attached to it and escorts should have that right but unfortunately the Sex Trafficking destroy it for all, it is huge, a massive network which the authorities have let get totally out of control and now its virtually impossible to control so way it is it would really open the floodgates further, it would give them Traffickers and pimps more control and they have a lot already and who is suffering only the innocent girls caught up in this. They're not even thought of here, they are insignificant only for one thing.
Take a look at Mainland UK where traffickers / pimps are in their element, the sex workers on the street at present I have never seen the likes of, its really really bad, the poor girls, apartments are full but the gangs are fighting and competing against each other and prices are being hammered way down and girls have to do more, offer more and working 24/7 to keep profits high and suffering more and more girls are trafficked into the country and controlled with Drugs and Threats, these vicious criminal gangs are seeing Ireland as a lot more profitable alternative as less competition here and they already have access to the properties as I said before and with the New Law not in full or half force even its a no brainer, its means prices can remain high, doubling profits for them in some cases but yet again who is suffering here only those poor innocent girls and that is so unacceptable
