    Default Gardai overspend their budget.

I see the Gardai have overspent their budget by €32 million and now they need to cut back their spending.
Perhaps they could save a few euro if they stop policing consensual sex, and just concentrate on the problems of pimping and forced trafficking.

My wife caught me wearing ladies underwear and threatened to leave me.
So I packed up all her clothes
    And left.

Overtime will be cut. Gardai won't have as much money to spend on escorts. They will be frustrated and grumpy; wouldn't be a good time to be caught speeding....

This was probably the reason for the overspend

They are doing that, are you suggesting that they are not? Do you know that they are not? If you believe someone is being pimped and traffic'd and the gardai are not taking it seriously, there are other avenues to make a complaint.

They also highlight other reasons for over spend; They included the policing of the Electric Picnic festival in Stradbally, Co Laois; the Garda operation against a suspected ATM theft gang in Cavan; and an operation by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau on a burglary crew in west Dublin.

You think they spent 32 million over spend on the new law?

My point is that they are wasting resources, sticking their noses into acts of consensual sex that do not involve pimping or trafficking.

I know from experience that events like Electric Picnic receive a hefty bill for policing. You do have a point with the others but isn't that what the gardai are there for.

I wouldn't be surprised if they wasted over 1 million on it. Pimping and trafficking were already illegal before the new law.

Do the organisers not have to pay for a lot of the policing of events such as Picnic? Also a lot of Garda resources would be for busting people for using recreational drugs most of which should be legalised just like consensual sex. The estimate of 1 million for the two major operations carried out this year to try and trap John's is probably about right.
