My thoughts on the new law

Hi all,

I'll probably get ridiculed for this but oh well.
If I am being honest, if this new law had existed 20 years ago I would not be here today to compose this text. I don't mean here as in this website, I mean still breathing!
I was a painfully shy and awkward teen, bullied verbally and emotionally by girls my own age. The result was I had zero confidence and a distorted view of my self by the time I got my early 20's.
I was completely unable to talk to never mind connect with women my own age.
It was only by stumbling across a predessecor of this website and being able to meet escorts that I started to gain any confidence. The state I was in back then emotionally I have no doubt I would have ended it all otherwise, I thought about it often enough. So my thanks to the ladies who, even though they didn't know it, saved me.
I feel great pity for any young lads today who find themselves in the position I was back then. I would have been to afraid to make contact and there would have been no help. I imagine many disabled people find themselves in similar situations too possibly, I don't know.
Anyway, just my thoughts on the mattern and the nature of unforeseen consequences, not that the supporters of this law care.
Now many years later I have a good job and am relatively content. Things could have been very different.

Good post, it just shows nothing is black and white, there are always issues that can’t be covered by draconian rules, I’ve no doubt access to escorts saved you, being marginalized would push anybody to the edge, I’m happy you came back from the brink, it can’t have been easy, good luck from here on 👍

Great post well done . I was a shy young lad myself and had no confidence with girls . Started going to escorts and they were a great help no i can talk to women . Im a single guy and loved visiting escorts every now and then but im afraid to now with the laws the way they are . Good luck 👍

It's nice to see a genuine person share their thoughts and feelings without being ridiculed by trolls and other posters . I can relate to a lot of things that have been mentioned in this thread . As a divorced father of two children I started punting for no strings attached sex, it suited me. I wasn't ready for a relationship and with my business and kids I'm quite busy. I get so much more than nsa sex from the incredible women I've met. For someone like me to be intimate with these gorgeous women still blows my mind everytime. They are kind, good listeners , intelligent and just a pleasure to be around. Sex workers rock !! I don't see them as sex workers, I see them as ladies,as business women trying to make a living. I'm very grateful to each and every one of them . I won't be punting for much longer but I'll never forget all the ladies I've met.

I strongly believe that you are correct regards suicide and divorce rates increasing in such an event. Sadly I can't see the law ever being reversed, not in this country anyway, can't imagine any Irish politician brave enough to take it on.

I think sex work will be decriminalised and legalised eventually, it won't happen overnight, look how long it took us to change the laws on divorce and abortion. I really hope it won't take too long but it will probably take another couple of generations for us to emerge from the dark ages as far as sex work is concerned.
