He uses comedy as a means of dealing with serious political issues and sensitive discussion topics. That's the point. That's the joke. He's not ACTUALLY calling for the IRA to start killing people.
It's like when a newspaper accused him of being racist because he made a racist joke. His racist jokes are to satirise people who sincerely hold those opinions, but yet, this somehow seems to go over everyone's heads.
But anyway, the joke is lost when it has to be explained. So never mind.

Yeah, it's simple-minded, and yet, his jokes still go over people's heads. So what does that say about the people who don't understand the style of humour?

I used to love FB but then I felt he was just saying stuff to be controversial and it lost its funny factor.
As Frankie Boyle might say it's easy to be a limp dick critic as opposed to a stand up comic.
