He uses comedy as a means of dealing with serious political issues and sensitive discussion topics. That's the point. That's the joke. He's not ACTUALLY calling for the IRA to start killing people.

It's like when a newspaper accused him of being racist because he made a racist joke. His racist jokes are to satirise people who sincerely hold those opinions, but yet, this somehow seems to go over everyone's heads.

But anyway, the joke is lost when it has to be explained. So never mind.

You really are having a hard time with peoples opinion of his humor. It is clear who he has pissed of in the past and most recently with his so called joke. A comedian from the North who has been touring all over Ireland for the past 40 years said nothing was of limits on the comedy circuit when it comes to Ireland apart from the killings and killing people. Now if you support someone who makes fun about killing people by the IRA then thats up to you. Its not my idea of humor as well as many other people.
