Unless the police/garda dont catch you in the act, then they can't really do you for anything.
They can only speculate and so it would not be enough for them to charge you.
If they do charge you by speculations, then you should be able to fight the case and possibly win as long as you don't admit to anything.
As for the press, with the new personal protection law, surely they can't mention your name and address without your permission.
This would be something that would need to be look into. And if it works out that they can't post your information due to the new law and they have done, then you would have a good claim.
I'm not a lawyer so i'm not fully sure on it all, but the law is usually common sense (most times)
