The markets believe the vote makes a softer Brexit more likely. Investors believe if Theresa May is forced to compromise she will compromise in the direction of those who would prefer a Brexit that more closely resembled a customs union or Norway arrangement.
The vote also means that it is also more likely Brexit may not happen at all.
She should also win her confidence vote, a serious setback for Jeremy Corbyn, a man not liked by investors.
However, despite the slight rise, Sterling still has taken a battering over the Brexit fiasco.
