Default Should Victoria’s Secret Fashion show be more inclusive? Yes Please!

    https://www.dailydot.com/irl/trans-y...torias-secret/

I was browsing the news section and this really went viral. The fact that Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show doesn’t have any transgender or plus sized models, because apparently is doesn’t help sell the ‘fantasy’. But why does that fantasy have to be in a certain standard? Beauty comes in all shapes, genders and sizes. And Nikita Dragun, boy she really sold my fantasy! Absolutely gorgeous!!! What are your thoughts on that? Should VS keep on selling the same fantasy or should they start changing their ideas on what beauty is actually about?

Victoria Secrets market is the youthful slim looking woman. They are making billions from this look. Why should they change this.

"There’s a reason why your sales are plummeting.”

And this is certainly true; Victoria’s Secret is struggling to keep its market share: Two years ago, the lingerie brand cut its swimwear and fashion businesses, and last August it announced it would close 20 stores due to poor performance."

So when your old maketing strategy isn’t giving profit like it used then it’s maybe time to change it. And you are right, this show has the lowest viewership. More and more luxury brands are including plus sized models or members of LGBTQ community. I don’t get why people would still want to be stuck on the old conventions that anorexic is beautiful?

I am 5’6” , my ‘fighting weight’ where I feel comfortable is between 50-55kg . On the slim side .

When I come to Dub I deliberately try to gain weight so there’s more to hold onto lol ,

my bottom gets fuller , my cup size increase by 2 sizes ..but *I* feel SO much better when thin !!

In society we are coming to reverse discrimination where the beautiful and the healthy weight

and the non-gay and non-offended have to apologize for looking healthy and not having Issues .

As I said in my Banned Song thread — aren’t we getting a bit overboard with all the pc

to the detriment of a healthy entity ?

By ALL means Inclusion ! YES , but don’t shove it down my throat !!

: if there’s a market for Plus Size — and of Course there is , and that market Should be

Equally served !! ) , there will be independent Plus Size , Non-Traditional fashion shows

and models (there already Are !) , but Don’t come into My house and Demand I should

change my Decor ‘cause you don’t like it .

Thank goodness ! We as a society Have evolved to such degree that there Are business

And social opportunities and recognition for All color size gender and goodness knows what else .

Everybody should have a space , but don’t come into mine and Demand . Make your Own xxx

And you look gorgeous x, I’m obviously not posting this because my opinion will change a fashion brand that was most definitely on the market long before I was born. I just posted this with the idea that the marketing editor was discriminating plus size models and the LGBTQ community, saying that those types aren’t able to sell a fantasy, I can see that they can do it pretty well in fairness. That was the point of my post. Xx

A lot of it depends on their view of what the 'fantasy' is. For Victoria's Secret, they are selling a very specific 'fantasy' to their customers, which doesn't include transgender or plus-sized models. I don't agree with that at all, but if that is what Victoria's Secret wants to stick with then so be it.

The problem is that they've shot themselves in the foot by not being inclusive and by taking such a harsh stand on it. It has given other businesses the opportunity to thrive by including plus-sized and transgender models, so they can go "our 'fantasy' includes everyone". VS have alienated a lot of their customers. This isn't going to end well for them.

I saw Nikita's video response to VS. I'm absolutely in awe of her. She's so stunning!
