Thread: Should Victoria’s Secret Fashion show be more inclusive? Yes Please!

Default Should Victoria’s Secret Fashion show be more inclusive? Yes Please!

I was browsing the news section and this really went viral. The fact that Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show doesn’t have any transgender or plus sized models, because apparently is doesn’t help sell the ‘fantasy’. But why does that fantasy have to be in a certain standard? Beauty comes in all shapes, genders and sizes. And Nikita Dragun, boy she really sold my fantasy! Absolutely gorgeous!!! What are your thoughts on that? Should VS keep on selling the same fantasy or should they start changing their ideas on what beauty is actually about?

It should be banned full stop. terrible influence on young women. Was reading recently about two young models in russia who were anorexic because their bosses told them to lose weight. One in four school girls in the uk self harms. They cited the enormous pressure to be beautiful as part of the reason.

Yea they should include transgender models and also more heavy models.

But like the drug industry they sustain itself because their is demand for the product.

As a brand I think it's had its day in the sun and is in decline. The chief marketing officer Ed Razek has probably slightly hastened that decline.
I think the VS Fashion Show this year was the smallest viewership ever, but perhaps it's just got stale.
I don't think it actually has a duty to include plus size models or trans models though. If there is an opening in the market for a VS type fashion show for plus size and trans models then another brand will fill that opening. Perhaps Navabi will.
I think this spoof video of a VS Fashion show they made comes off a little needy though. As if they are desperately seeking VS approval, or an invite to their party. Go off and throw your own party, and if it's wonderful, then everyone will want to join it.

I wonder, if everyone had a magic wand and could make themselves any version of beautiful, what shape or version would they choose.

Victoria Secrets market is the youthful slim looking woman. They are making billions from this look. Why should they change this.

"There’s a reason why your sales are plummeting.”

And this is certainly true; Victoria’s Secret is struggling to keep its market share: Two years ago, the lingerie brand cut its swimwear and fashion businesses, and last August it announced it would close 20 stores due to poor performance."

So when your old maketing strategy isn’t giving profit like it used then it’s maybe time to change it. And you are right, this show has the lowest viewership. More and more luxury brands are including plus sized models or members of LGBTQ community. I don’t get why people would still want to be stuck on the old conventions that anorexic is beautiful?

I seriously didn’t see that, didn’t mean to do another thread about it.

Point out which one of them has the actual weight according to their height? Did you know those women are asked to starve in order to walk the catwalk? Otherwise they aren’t accepted to walk for VS. they look gorgeous, but how heathy do you think they actually are?
