Default The French Anti Sex Work/Sex worker Law implicated In Sex Worker Murder

The French brought in their anti sex work and anti sex worker law just before we did and it has been implicated in the murder of a transgender sex worker, Vanesa Campos -

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-45325494

The vicious and brutal murder of Vanesa sparked anger among sex workers and LGBT activists.

Hundreds marched on Friday to demand greater protection for prostitutes.

Campaigners demanded the repeal of a 2016 law which criminalised the purchase of sex in France, saying it forced sex workers to work in more isolated locations to avoid police.

We have already had a huge increase of attacks on ex workers here since this madness was brought in, how long before a sex worker is killed and of course we will get a predictable response from most TORLERs!

It's about fat ugly old women losing control in society.

The reality is the poor auld lad has his balls in a sling, at the mercy of an auld one for his hole once in a while.

    Escorts fuck up this control.
He goes down the road with a few quid and all that control is gone.

Women have us by the balls one way or another

Yeah, her main reason for the legislation was that "it would send a message to the public that it's not acceptable to pay for sex."
    WTF?

What? Nah Lib you tripping boy. What about all them times that they sat down and had reasonable, non biased/prejudiced discussions with the escorts, completely putting to one side their bigoted and archaic opinions and actually put the well-being of the escorts first!

    ...

    Wait a minute...

No, I'm pretty sure that never happened... Yeah. Cos that would involve treating the escorts, the people they so claim to try and help, with respect and actually give their thoughts and experiences the light of day, which... I'm pretty sure has never nor will never happen.

Yeah my bad, I got mixed up. Old age and all that.

Forgetting my previous post for a second. It's just gotten me thinking a bit.

That is exactly the problem: this law had sweet F all to do with trying to help escorts or victims of human trafficking, all it ever was was a vendetta against paid sex led by a bunch of bigoted dinosaurs who refuse to enter the 21st centrury. End of.

I covered this in that thread I made a few nights back, but the fact is that no matter how many laws are thrown against it, the demand for sex work can never be eliminated, and therefore sex work itself can never be eliminated. It is impossible. By fighting against it by throwing together meaningless, ineffectual laws like this, you're only making matters worse for those involved, whether they are genuinely independent or whether they are forced/coerced. So instead focus on making it much safer, focus on bringing it from up from the underneath rather than further underground which is exactly what this law has done. Targetting clients is pointless, instead focus your energies on finding the genuine victims of human trafficking, finding the people responsible for it and bring them to justice.

The distinction between consensual, truly independent sex work and non consensual human trafficking has got to be made, for everyone involved.

Only then can things get back on track.

Something I've picked up on recently, and I'm not sure if others have picked up on this, is that in discussions around sex work, people always raise the issue of wives and girlfriends, even when there's absolutely no indication that the clients being discussed are even in relationships.

Most discussions around sex work seem to disproportionately focus on the clients and their hypothetical partners, which suggests to me that the main concern of these groups is the idea of men cheating. If their main concern was the sex workers, then the discussions would focus on the sex workers, but too often that's simply not the case.

You hit the nail on the head there bud. They don't give a flying fig about sex workers, despite their claims. All their campaign is, ever was and always will be is a bigoted vendetta against prostitution itself.

Didnt read this thread. But if selling sex is one of d oldest professions ever, y not legalize it. If it was wud more Irish girls do it, wud d buyer benefit cos competition wud b rife n escorts wud hav to b on top of their game to make a living.
No more dirty minging apartments wit shitty beds, way less secrecy n sneaking about.
If we can legalize gay marriage/sex n legalize abortion, d death of an innocent child. Y not legalize d one thing that everyone does, everyone has sex so where is d harm in paying for r getting paid for sex.
Mite it cut out out people trafficking in Ireland, their wil always b black market sex, but surely not as much.
If Ireland can allow gays to marry and allow d death/murder of an innocent child/fetus, y not allow d sex business to b a legitimate business.
